Wills & Probate

Granted, we can’t make writing a Will fun and when whatever stage of life you are at, you’re still young and there are a million and one exciting things you would rather do but it’s really not such a long and laborious process as you might think. After all, a Will simply declares your wishes and provides instructions for your family. Will aren’t just about money and having a Will isn’t just for wealthy people. Even if you don’t have many assets to bequest, a Will can outline the guardians for your children; allow you to make charitable bequests, or even decide who should NOT be receiving anything from your estate.

Inheritance planning or thinking about what should go into your Will is not a job anyone relishes, but if you fit into any of the above, have property, a fair amount of assets, of have children, you may want to consider putting together a Will, as none of us knows what the future holds. We all want to leave something behind for our loved ones. We’re all about removing the burden, if you pass away without leaving a will, you could leave costs and complications for your loved ones to deal with, alongside a great deal of heartache. Having a Will in place means the better protected your loved ones will be. And remember, a will can be revised later if necessary, or written to take into account certain changes you expect.

And for those Family owned businesses, succession planning will always start with a Will. When writing a Will, our experts will look at all aspects of your estate and financial affairs to advise you appropriately and this can include lifetime gifts and trust structures. And when you’re left dealing with a loved one’s affairs when they have passed away, we know how complicated and confusing, especially at a difficult and emotional time. So, when you task us with acting as Executors of a Will, not only do we have the legal responsibility of establishing the extent of the deceased estate, we’re also mindful that this is a difficult and emotional time, so we’ll manage with care and consideration paying the liabilities and expenses of your family member, including any inheritance tax where applicable, and we’ll be considerate in distributing the remaining residual balance of the estate to the chosen beneficiaries.
