Community

We’ve always held the value of our communities very highly, and as we grow, we want to make even more of a difference in our local communities and focus our investment on helping children and young people so that we can instil the same ethos of giving back from an early age as well as to help improve the life outcomes of the next generation.Of course, we make monthly donations to charities that support this theme in the communities where we operate, but we are more than just about donating.

Blackstone Legal is not just made up of lawyers, we are people after all and we encourage all our colleagues to undertake work in the community. Our involvement ranges from schemes such as vocational training and mentoring, volunteering, providing office resources, to donor engagement and advocacy. Responsible & forward thinking. We believe that a fundamental part of measuring our success is the difference we make to the lives of our stakeholders – employees, clients, partner organisations, suppliers and our local community. It only takes a small amount of each individual’s time for us to make a great impact as a community and our CSR strategy reflects that throughout the firm.

The firm’s Community Council works to promote and co-ordinate pro bono and community work in the firm. It selects and supports the firm’s chosen charities, fostering long-term relationships with chosen organisations. Our approach to corporate social responsibility comes from the top down and it is this that has an undeniably advantageous impact on recruitment and retention of staff and the overall reputation of our firm. For us, it’s all about responsibility. We have a long tradition of pro bono and community activity and our commitment to being a responsible, ethical legal firm is embedded throughout our organisation. Lawyers are encouraged to participate in pro-bono and community work which forms an important part of the appraisal process.
